3DA0GY: QRT ---> The main goal of  LA9GY's three-week  3DA0GY expedition  to
eSwatini [425DXN 1850] was "to rack up a ton of CW contacts and hand out
some juicy multiplier points in the upcoming CQWW SSB contest". However, the
operation was cut short when his six-month-old SDR radio "simply refused to
transmit"; extensive troubleshooting with friends in Norway and remote as-
sistance from the Flexradio helpdesk failed. Morten pivoted to wildlife pho-
tography for the remainder of the trip.

YASME EXCELLENCE AWARD ---> Established in 2008 by the Yasme Foundation
(https://www.yasme.org/), the Excellence Award is presented to individuals
and groups who, through their own service, creativity, effort and dedication
have made a significant contribution to amateur radio. The contribution may
be in recognition of technical, operating or organizational achievement, as
all three are necessary for amateur radio to grow and prosper.
The latest recipient, announced on 18 October, is the Reverse Beacon Network
team (https://www.reversebeacon.net/): Felipe Ceglia (PY1NB, founder), Nick
Sinanis (F5VIH), Mark Glenn (K7MJG), Dave Pascoe (KM3T, founder and owner
of LiveATC.NET), Pete Smith (N4ZR), Dick Williams (W3OA), and Chris White
(WX7V).
The award "recognizes the contributions to amateur radio by the team in sup-
port of a global, volunteer-operated network of automated amateur radio re-
ceiver stations (SDR skimmers) that listen to radio bands and report who is
transmitting in near-real time. The network is invaluable for propagation
testing, antenna comparisons, contest operating, and results adjudication.
The network typically has 250 active nodes around the world measuring a sta-
tion's frequency, signal strength, signal to noise radio, and sending speed
which is then reported live to a central RBN database".
